Product Brief:
Qimao Metal Manufacturer Pipe Test Plug Gripper – Stamped Stainless Steel Serrated Segment | Blind Rivet Mounted, Wear-Resistant is the part that actually holds the test plug in place. Smooth grippers slip once pressure climbs; serrated teeth bite in and keep their hold. We stamp it from stainless steel sheet, so the tooth profile stays consistent from part to part — no hand grinding, no variation between batches. The L-shaped body sits flat against the pipe wall, and the teeth are angled to resist pull-out in one direction while allowing the plug to seat. It mounts with blind rivets, so you don’t need access to the back side of the plug body. Wear-resistant enough for repeated pressure cycles.

Product Details:
The Pipe Test Plug Gripper – Stamped Stainless Steel Serrated Segment | Blind Rivet Mounted, Wear-Resistant are stamped from high-toughness wear-resistant metal, then fixed to the plug body with blind rivets. That mounting method matters — it keeps the segment seated flat and stops it from shifting when the plug is under load.
The gripper handles are precision stamped sheet metal parts, formed to fit the robot gripper clamping. The curved body is made from a PC/ABS polymer alloy. This material was chosen for two reasons: it’s very light, and it flexes instead of cracking. Under pressure it bends, and once the load comes off it returns to its original shape. It holds up through hydrostatic testing and doesn’t fatigue after repeated cycles.
Every metal component is deburred before assembly. A burr left on a gripping segment will scratch the pipe wall, and in a test plug that scratch can become a leak path. So we deburr both sides, not just the visible face.
We can adjust dimensions to match different pipe diameters. And if a segment or handle wears out in service, we supply them as separate spare parts — you don’t have to replace the whole plug.
Core Feature:
-
The Pipe Test Plug Gripper – Stamped Stainless Steel Serrated Segment | Blind Rivet Mounted, Wear-Resistant stamped from high-toughness wear-resistant metal — tooth profile formed in the die, so every segment in a batch bites the same way.
-
Serrated teeth bite into the pipe wall under load — angled to dig in rather than skate across. Holds on smooth or corroded pipe where a flat gripper slips.
-
Blind rivet mounting — keeps the segment seated flat, no protrusion inside the pipe, won’t catch on the wall or interfere with tool travel.
-
Curved body in PC/ABS polymer alloy — light and flexes instead of cracking. Returns to shape after load, holds up through repeated hydrostatic testing.
-
Precision stamped gripper handles — formed to fit robot gripper clamping. Consistent dimensions, no hand-fitting during assembly.
-
Deburred both sides before assembly — a burr scratches the pipe wall, and in a test plug that scratch can become a leak path.
-
Dimensions adjustable for different pipe diameters — tooth pitch, segment length, and curvature matched to your pipe size.
-
Spare segments and handles supplied separately — replace the worn part, not the whole plug. Lower maintenance cost, longer plug life.
Wide Usage:
-
Pipe Test Plug Gripper – Stamped Stainless Steel Serrated Segment | Blind Rivet Mounted, Wear-Resistant for pressure testing and pipeline isolation — holds the plug in place while the line is pressurized. Serrated teeth maintain grip as pressure fluctuates, where smooth grippers slip once the load climbs.
-
Temporary blocking of drains and sewer lines during maintenance — stays put in wet, dirty pipe. Teeth bite through light scale and debris instead of sliding over it, so the plug doesn’t shift overnight.
-
Pipeline pigging and inspection tools needing a gripping anchor — low-profile anchor that doesn’t interfere with pig travel or tool movement inside the line.
-
Robot gripper clamping applications — stamped sheet metal handles give a consistent clamping surface that doesn’t deform or slip during repeated pick-and-place cycles.
-
Any application where a low-profile anchor must hold against a pipe wall under load — blind rivet mounting and curved body keep the outside profile flush, so it works in tight spaces where a bolted anchor wouldn’t fit.
-
Maintenance and replacement programs — segments and handles supplied as separate spare parts, so operators can replace worn components on site without pulling the whole plug out of service.
How to Use :
1-For the Pipe Test Plug Gripper – Stamped Stainless Steel Serrated Segment | Blind Rivet Mounted, Wear-Resistant, the gripper enters the pipe in a compressed state. The robot arm clamps both handles and pulls inward, flexing the curved PC/ABS body until the profile closes into a near-round shape. At 98mm natural diameter, it compresses enough to pass through a 110mm drain pipe, even one with scale buildup.
2-Once at depth, the arm releases. The PC/ABS alloy and 201 stainless segments spring back toward their original shape, pressing the serrated edges against the pipe wall. The teeth bite in and hold.
3-The arm withdraws, and the plug stays seated on its own. The material’s resilience, corrosion resistance, and hardness are what make this cycle repeatable — the part returns to shape after each install, so grip stays consistent over time.
